Welcome

Heanor & Loscoe Town Council

Heanor and Loscoe is a town and civil parish in the Amber Valley district of Derbyshire, a former coal-mining and textile community north-east of Derby. The town council is the first tier of local government here — this is where you'll find its meetings, minutes, finances and how to contact the clerk.

Public notices

Agendas for every council meeting are published here at least three clear days before the meeting, alongside statutory notices such as the annual Notice of Public Rights. On the live site this panel is kept current by the clerk — email a notice and it is published the same day.

About the town

Heanor grew as a mining and industrial centre through the 19th century; an 1848 account records that the local collieries alone employed more than 2,000 people, alongside the manufacture of hosiery and lace. Coal mining and textiles have since declined, but the town remains the focus of the wider parish of Heanor and Loscoe. Heanor Town Hall, on Market Place, was built in red brick with stone dressings in the Italianate style and completed in 1867; it is a Grade II listed building and the meeting place of the town council.
